Carrie’s Story
Posted by carrie on Sep 16, 2011 in About Us | 0 commentsThis is my story: Mid-July a friend of mine sent me to an email inviting me to an Essential Oils Class. Normally I avoid direct sales like the plague, but this invitation was different. I am very interested in alternative/homeopathic medicine. I believe that our culture has become too dependent on man made drugs and western medicine, although I am extremely grateful for it, I just want to arm myself with other alternatives. I made great effort to go to my friends class even though I was fully expecting sales. (Totally unlike me.) I really just wanted to learn what they were teaching.
The class was extremely informative. I felt like it was really a class, not a sales pitch. I had no idea essential oils were so diverse. I was excited about all of the possibilities. The class introduced me to the DoTerra brand of oils, and I learned how DoTerra has raised the standard for essential oils and provides an extremely high quality product. I was not surprised that I left the class wanting to buy everything they sale so I went home to do my usual research. This was the week that Josh, Caleb and Cara were in Montana so I spent four days while they were gone researching everything I could find about DoTerra and Essential oils. I was incredibly impressed with what I found. For example check out this website: http://www.everythingessential.me/HealthConcerns/_HealthConcernIndex.html. Click on any ailment or disease and you will find recommended essential oils, research that has been done, and other interesting info by clicking the tabs.
I was impressed to find how much essential oils have been researched. I was also impressed by the historical uses. I had never really thought about the frankincense and muir that the Wise Men gave to the Savior. I just figured they were minerals like the gold, but no, they were healing oils. I have often wondered how people through time treated their every day ailments without the modern medicine we have, and I think essential oils is one way.
I ordered a few of the many oils I wanted and I have been having a good time for the past few months using them. I have been defusing them and they seem to have a calming effect on our home. I have been using them to help us sleep, and to lift our moods. They work amazing on misquito bites, and I have really enjoyed taking baths with a few drops of peppermint, lavender or others. I know I am just at the tip of the ice burg of possibilities. Before I made my order I emailed a few of my friends who already use DoTerra and other oils and their testimonies of the healing affect of oils were awesome.
I have hosted a few classes at my house, and I plan to have more. I love that people can come to a class and the only sales pressure is the pressure we put on ourselves because we want the product. I like inviting people who already use oils so that they can be reminded of the ways they can be used. I have no problem inviting people because I think the oils could really bless their lives in a lot of ways. The skeptic may say, “I don’t know if it really helps” or “it’s probably placebo” but my thought is so what if it is placebo if it works. Here is a link to some basic essential oils information if they are new to you like they were to me:http://www.mydoterra.com/carriekirk/essentialDefinition.html
If you have more time and want more in depth info here is a webanar that I felt had good info on essential oils. http://www.fasttrackplanner.com/product-videos.htm.
I guess you can tell that I am really excited about DoTerra’s essential oils (and their other products too, but I will leave that out for now.) The thing that has me loosing sleep though is their business model. They incentivize everything. I guess I had better stop or this will sound like a sales pitch which is not what I intended. I am just excited, and the more I learn the better it gets.
I have been pondering why I am willing to share this company when I am so anti sales. Today I had an aha moment. This is the conclusion that came to me: I genuinely care about people and I think that I can help and bless them with better health, less pain, and many more things by sharing these great products. My conclusion is that I see this more as a helping opportunity than a sales opportunity. I just feel so good about it.
